Ampitheater loses Monday concert
Tuesday, July 26, 2005
The Anger Management Tour concert scheduled for Monday night in Tampa has been moved.
The concert features artists like Eminem, 50 cent, Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz.
The concert was to be at the Ford Amphitheater, which is currently at the center of controversy, but has been moved to the St Pete Times Forum.
People who live near the Amphitheater say concerts there are too loud. The venue is at odds with its neighbors and the Environmental Protection Agency regarding acceptable noise limits.
According to the show's promoters, Cellar Door, the move is their request. Their web site says:
"The Ford Amphitheatre is about to enter into mediation over current sound level restrictions at the amphitheater. Until that situation is resolved fairly and successfully, moving to the indoor venue will allow the artists on the bill to deliver their performances in the way they are intended to be performed for their fans."
St. Pete Times Forum President Ron Campbell said he has the fans in mind as well.
"We decided it was in their best interest," Campbell said. "So the show goes on here at the St. Pete Times Forum."
Campbell says the amphitheater and forum are competitors, but also partners.
"It's a strange relationship," he said.
Concert ticket holders can either exchange their tickets or get a full refund starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Refunds are only available at the point of purchase.
