A pilot that died after an ultralight plane crashed Monday afternoon in Palmetto has been identified as 82-year-old James Clendenon.

According to reports, emergency crews received a call at 3:15 p.m. about an ultralight plane that went down in the area of Buckeye and Grass Farm roads.

Crews responded to the area, but they initially could not find anything as the plane went down in a heavily wooded area, the report said. However, after searching for a period of time, crews found the aircraft.
