Age isn't getting in the way of a Hernando County teenage who is busy coaching champions.

If you didn't know any better you might think Brandon Lewis is just another student at Superman MMA in Spring Hill. Well, he's not.

Lewis is actually the mixed martial arts instructor and part owner. He is also only 15 years old.

“I love teaching, so I ended up opening my own school and this is what I love doing,” Lewis said. “We have ages 7 all the way up to 40.”

People do question his abilities because of his age. He is very modest and has a simple response.

"Just come out on the mat and see how it is," he said. “Let the results show.”

Being a teenage MMA instructor is quite the accomplishment but Lewis isn't just teaching. He is also producing champions.

"We went to a national tournament," Lewis said. "I brought six students, and five of them got first place and one of them got second.”

Austin Oliviera is one of those students who got first place.

"He was coaching me along the way and it was just great,” Oliviera said.

Lewis said seeing his students succeed makes him proud.

"I really like seeing them when they go out and compete and do real well," Lewis said. "It really makes me feel proud.”

Lewis is also taking a stand against bullying and offers classes that teach basic self defense.
