A silent art auction is underway at the New Tampa Family YMCA.

17-year-old Lindsey Danner is one of the artists.  She's a part of the Adaptive Art Program at the YMCA and has spent several weeks creating her rendition of "Home Sweet Home."

"I have some roses in the front yard because I love roses," said Danner.

Lindsey is one of 17 special needs students with paintings in the silent auction.  For Lindsey's mother, Jana Danner, seeing her daughter's artwork is an inspiration.

"I love it, I can see her heart in it, and just how much she enjoyed painting it," said Jana.

The artists range in age from 4-years-old to 54-years-old.  They painted the pictures themselves with some local expertise from artist Kristin Osterman.

Adaptive Programs Coordinator Kass Pilczuk says Osterman came up with the idea of having a silent auction three years ago. Pilczuk says selling the meaningful masterpieces has been a success.  All of the proceeds go toward the adaptive programs at the YMCA.

"Some of them go pretty nicely. I think the highest that we've seen is probably $85," says Pilczuk.

The silent auction is on display Sunday through Saturday at the New Tampa YMCA on Compton Drive.  To make a bid, just walk through the front doors where you'll see the artwork.
