The Pasco County Sheriff's Office SWAT team situation at a New Port Richey hotel has ended peacefully.

According to officials, Alexander Curry was taken into custody after a five-hour standoff.

Authorities were called to the scene of a barricaded person at the Royal Palm Inn in the 6500 block of U.S. Highway 19 in New Port Richey just after 3:30 a.m. An evacuation took place at the hotel shortly after that.

Curry was taken into custody just before 9 a.m. There were no injuries reported.

Background story

Officials said Curry was wanted by police in connection with the April 1 robbery of Catches Waterfront Grille in Port Richey.

According to Port Richey Police, other suspects in the robbery, Shane Lewis Coursen, 29, of Homosassa, ran from the restaurant and hid in the nearby Pithlachascotee River.

Courson faces a charge of robbery with a firearm. The other suspect, Alicia Maria Briguglio, 28, of Floral City, faces a charge of being an accessory after the fact.

Officials have not said what role Curry may have played in the robbery.
