A 16-year-old boy was found shot in the upper torso in a Tampa street on Friday night.

A Tampa Police spokesperson said the boy, identified Saturday as Leroy Henry, was found wounded after a shooting near East Ellicott Street and North 11th Street around 9 p.m.

According to Tampa Police, the victim was walking with a group of five other teens when a male suspect, between the ages of 15 - 20 walked up and shot the victim.

The victim was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery. Officials said Saturday the boy's condition has been upgraded to serious but stable.

A suspect has not been identified. A motive for the shooting is not known at this time.
