The Florida Democratic party has selected its delegation for the Democratic National Convention in September.

Beryle Buchman and Jack Wolff were two of the 323 Florida delegates selected at a delegate naming convention in Tampa this past weekend.

"I see it as, I am part of the history," Buchman said. "It's unbelievable that I'm able to actually be there."

Although Buchman and her husband have been active with the Democratic party for years, neither have been to a convention. At 83 years old, they say this will be the trip of a lifetime.

"We feel by going there, we will add our voice, and then afterward, when we come home we'll do all we can," Wolff said.

The delegation will be one of the largest ever for Florida democrats.

As Republicans penalize Florida for moving up their party's primary, Florida Democrats are receiving star treatment because they waited and followed their party's rules.

Instead of holding a primary in January, Florida Democrats waited and held county caucuses in May. The winners moved on to a second caucus last weekend in Tampa. There, they voted for one another and selected delegates for the convention.

It's the first time Florida Democrats have held two caucuses to select delegates.

Because Florida Democrats made the changes, they received more delegates, a prime spot on the convention floor, and a hotel that's close to the convention site.

The Democratic National Convention will be held in Charlotte, N.C. on the first week of September.
