A St. Petersburg woman is facing charges after deputies said she had sex with a teenager who is under the age of 16.

Lauralee M. Beckham, 26, has been charged with lewd and lascivious battery on a child under 16.

Deputies said they were called to the teen's residence Wednesday by the teen's father.

Investigators said they learned Beckham had been engaged in sexual activity with the teenager over the last two weeks at the teen's home.

Deputies said Beckham admitted to the allegations.

Beckham is married. Her mother-in-law, Nancy Boyd, said her son and Beckham have been married five years but are separated.

"My son, he's devastated, he can't believe it," Boyd said.

Relatives say they've seen Beckham hanging around with a boy who appears to be 14.

"You would think at her age and everything she would know better than to have a child hanging around her home," Boyd said.

Deputies say the sexual encounters happened at Beckham's home over the last two weeks.

Beckham faced a judge on Thursday. Despite her request, the judge refused to lower bond to $5,000.

She is currently being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $10,000 bond.

This isn't Beckham's first time at a court appearance. A look at prior arrests show she's been in trouble for drugs, forgery and theft.
