A federal air marshal has been arrested and accused of taking cell phone photographs underneath women's skirts while boarding a Nashville to Tampa flight.

Nashville police say Adam Bartsch was on duty on Southwest Airlines Flight 3132 on Thursday when a witness noticed he was taking the photos. Police say the witness notified a flight attendant.

According to police, when Bartsch was confronted, he tried to delete the photos. But investigators got the phone away from him before he could delete the images, officials said. Bartsch was taken off the flight and charged with disorderly conduct.

"His left hand was holding his phone, and it was in the aisle," the unidentified witness said. "In my mind, I said, 'I know he's not taking pictures of the girls as they going by. Next thing I know, a lady walked by, the phone went to the aisle and he -- click click click click."

According to the police report, Bartsch said he snapped 10 to 12 inappropriate pictures, something he said he had done before. He was charged with disorderly conduct.

Transportation Security Administration officials said Thursday afternoon that Bartsch was removed from duty and the TSA is assisting with the investigation.

The agency said it's in the process of suspending or terminating Bartsch's employment.
