Subtropical Depression 7 that formed Friday morning south of Bermuda has strengthened into Subtropical Storm Fay.

It is no threat to the U.S. as it will stay out in the Atlantic, but a tropical storm watch has been issued for Bermuda.

The depression is moving toward the north-northwest near 12 mph and is currently 440 miles south of Bermuda.

A gradual turn toward the north is expected during the next 24 hours, followed by a turn toward the northeast on Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph, with higher gusts.

Tropical storm conditions are possible on Bermuda late Saturday or on Sunday.

Fay is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches across Bermuda.

Meanwhile, Bay News 9 meteorologists are watching a second tropical low behind Fay that has a better chance of developing and moving toward the Bahamas by next week.
