A man suspected of being impaired while crawling across U.S. 19 was struck by two vehicles and killed Tuesday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Just before 9 p.m., a 32-year-old man from Turnersville, N.C., was crawling on his hands and knees east across U.S. 19 south of Cornflower Drive. He moved into the path of traffic and was struck first by a Dodge Ram pickup and then a motor home, troopers said.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene.

One of the vehicles had a passenger. Neither the drivers nor the passenger were injured, and no charges were filed.
