Pedestrian killed crossing U.S. 41 in Manatee County

A pedestrian walked into the path of pickup truck on U.S. 41 and was struck and killed Friday night, authorities said.

The male pedestrian, who has not been identified, was crossing U.S. 41 north of Braden Avenue around 8:10 p.m. He walked in front of a northbound Chevrolet 1500 pickup driven by 47-year-old Francis Peter of Bradenton and was struck, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The Medical Examiner's office reported the pedestrian dead.
