City of Palmetto commissioners on Monday added a tier of citations for noise ordinance violations. But they couldn't agree on how the ordinance would be applied to businesses with outdoor areas such as a patio or playground.

According to the Bradenton Herald, commissioners also debated decibel levels, whether police or code enforcement should handle potential violations and what kind of equipment to use.

Their decision was to leave the ordinance alone but add a tier of citations. The first violation would get a warning, and subsequent violations, up to four or more within a year, would cost up to $500 and require a court appearance.
