Pasco County commissioners are moving forward with Starkey Ranch Park.
On Tuesday, the commission approved the first phase, which includes a ball field and three other sports fields, along with park amenities.
The price tag of the park is more than $7 million.
Earlier this year, officials planted a tree on the site, where thousands of homes, a school and a library are planned.
The property sits next to the Starkey Wilderness Park along State Road 54.
