A St. Petersburg man is close to reeling in a deal for a new one of a kind national television show.

Through thick and think, good times and bad, fishing is the one constant in Ronnie Green’s life.

“I’ve had some really difficult times in my life but the consistent that I’ll thank my dad and my great grandmother for is fishing,” said Green, St. Petersburg fisherman.

Green first picked up a rod and reel as a little boy in Texas.

There are times he puts it down like when he served his country in Desert Storm, but he always picks it up again.

“People take it for granted we live in such a great country where certain things we take for granted happen every day here,” he said.

Green’s passion for fishing is taking him on a new journey.

The St. Petersburg man is close to having the first national all African-American fishing show.

“Where we are different is we incorporate life’s experiences in how to live your best life incorporating bass fishing,” he said.

Green will fish alongside guys like Walter Crawley. Crawley’s a cancer survivor making the most of each day.

“We got to church together, we worship together, it’s a wonderful relationship and I really appreciate it,” said Walter Crawley.

Green said fishing is a huge part of his life but life is so much more than fishing and that’s what his show will reflect.

It’s clear though he still gets just as excited as that little boy in Texas used to when he hooks the big fish.

Green said at least three networks are interested in his show including the World Fishing Network and Outdoor Channel.

If his show gets picked up he will shoot in the winter and it will air in the spring.
