The Hillsborough County Public Utilities Department has scheduled a public information meeting on Thursday, Nov. 6 to discuss a planned fire hydrant and water pipeline installation project in Sun City Center.

County officials said the project will improve fire protection by adding 173 hydrants in the area roughly bordered by 19th Avenue on the north, Cypress Village Boulevard on the west, U.S. 01 on the east and State Route 674 on the south.

Also, nearly 4 1/2 miles of 6-inch water pipeline will be constructed to support the new hydrants.

Officials will present details of the project and construction information to Sun City Center residents. Construction is scheduled to start by January 2015 and be completed within a year.

The meeting is set for 10 a.m. at the Sun City Center Community Association building, 945-D North Course Lane.
