Emergency crews responded to a house fire in the Old Northeast section of St. Petersburg early Wednesday.

Just before 5 a.m., firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the second story of a home at 1900 Bay Street N. Firefighters said it took a while to extinguish the fire because it was hard to locate its original source.

Pinellas County Emergency Medical Services also responded, but there was no injuries.

According to St. Petersburg Fire officials, one person lived in the home and made it out unharmed. A dog also was not hurt, but officials are trying to locate two cats.

Officials have not determined the extent of the damage to the home yet. They said there is more damage inside the home than out.

The fire is under investigation.
