Tampa Police is investigating one of its own.

Officer Anton Lipski, 32, was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of drunk driving.

Lipski was driving the wrong way when witnesses said his Acura hit a median and then a residential wall at N. Highland Avenue and W. Violet Street. No one was hurt.

“We say if police came, you know, (it would be) terrible because you’re drunk. And he said ‘Oh man I just drank one beer,’” said Berat Yigiogle, a witness.

Police said he failed a sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level over twice the legal limit.

“It’s embarrassing to me. It’s a disappointment,” said Tampa Police Deputy Chief Brian Dugan. “You know, as police officers it’s our job to keep the roadway safe and not become part of the problem.”

Lipski has been with the force for over a year. He is suspended without pay.
