There’s going to be more than flowers popping up at Bok Tower Gardens once their expansion project is complete.

“This is the biggest project we’ve taken on since the beginning of the garden 85 years ago,” said Bok Tower President, David Price.

At a ground breaking ceremony officials announced their expansion will include an outdoor kitchen and garden, a wild garden and one of the most anticipated, a children’s garden.

Visitors say this project is exactly what the historic attraction needed.

“I’ve been preaching for something for the kids ever since I’ve been here. So I’m very enthused about this,” said Bok Tower volunteer, Duane Hull.

The children’s garden will include hands on activities, water features and things for them to climb on. All while keeping the calm, relaxing and scenic atmosphere the gardens are known for.

The new $12 million expansion project will be paid for by donations. It’s set to open in 18 months.
