The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is holding an event today that aims to "beat the bullies out of Pinellas County schools."

What else could that be but a drumming event? It's being taking place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at Osceola Middle School, 9301 98th Street N in Seminole.

School resource deputy Ural Darling, other law enforcement personnel, students, teachers and community leaders are beating the drums against bullying for 12 consecutive hours. The intent is to raise awareness about the problem of bullying in schools and encourage intervention and prevention before matters escalate.

Guest drummers for this year's edition are Casey Grillo of Kamelot and Gumbi Ortiz (toured with fusion guitar legend Al Di Meola). Steve Turner of Giving Tree Music is hosting a drum circle.

The event is sponsored by Seminole Music and Sound and is open to the public.
