The Polk County School Board has approved a plan for how the district will spend $1 million in state money earmarked for technology.

School districts across Florida are getting state funding to increase the use of technology in schools. Polk County will use its funds to add wireless Internet service at six schools and buy tablets, laptops and headphones for some schools, according to The Ledger of Lakeland.

Schools have to submit a Digital Classroom Plan to be eligible for the funding. Polk's plan includes a budget for wireless Internet at six schools and tablets, laptops and headphones at specified schools.
