A 53-year-old woman was killed early Tuesday in a single-car crash in Lakeland.
According to Lakeland police, Nancy A. Clark was killed when the 2008 2-door Subaru she was in collided with a power pole on Crystal Lake Drive.
Police said the vehicle was traveling east bound on North Crystal Lake Drive when it crossed over US Hwy 98 South at a high rate of speed. The vehicle crossed railroad tracks, went airborne, bounced on the pavement and struck the traffic power pole located on the south side of Crystal Lake Drive.
Clark died at the scene. The driver, 53-year-old Chester H. Clark of West Haven, Ct., was transported to the Lakeland Regional Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
