Time is running out for you to submit your bright idea to for Bright House Networks' competition, "Bright Ideas STEM from Today's Youth."

Bright House Networks, Bay News 9's parent company, is committed to helping today's youth become innovative entrepreneurs.

The competition is looking for students who have what it takes to create the next big idea — the kind of bright idea for solving a new problem that has yet to be solved.

The multi-state competition for students focuses on STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Early next year, students will compete on TV in front of a studio audience for the chance to work with a leading innovation firm and turn their ideas into reality.

"I think that's great, because in my classroom, I'm always teaching my students to be entrepreneurial," said Faith Whittingham, an area high school teacher. "To have a company that would actually be supporting their idea, it gives them that much more incentive to want to actually go through the engineering design process. Right now they've done all the design parts of things, but they've never actually had a product in their hand."

Contest submissions will be taken through Friday, Oct. 31, 2014. If you think you or a student you know has the next Bright Idea, visit brightideas.brighthouse.com to learn more about how to compete for this fantastic opportunity.
