For the first time in 28 years, the Taste of Manatee is crossing the river.

This weekend, for the first time in their history, the Rotary Club of West Bradenton, is holding the event at Sutton Park in Palmetto.

“We’re really excited to be here in Palmetto,” club president Mark Sticht said. "We have a lot more room and parking and we’re expecting it to be the biggest event we’ve ever had.”

He said they also decided to move the event because it’s cheaper to have it in Palmetto compared to Bradenton.

Sticht said by paying less for the event, this will help them give back more to charities in the community.

The Taste of Manatee features a variety of food and entertainment and will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12-7 p.m.

While Sutton Park has been around for years, it most recently underwent a makeover. The city spent $1 million renovating the park.

The event is free to attend.
