An 18-year-old Tampa student died in a fatal motorcycle crash in Carrollwood early Friday morning.

Authorities said Corban G. Stoltzfoos was traveling northbound on Northdale Blvd. around 12:30 a.m. approaching Ashwood Drive when his 2009 Kawasaki Ninja went off the road.

The motorcycle struck a tree and then a concrete wall between the subdivision and Northdale Blvd. Stoltzfoos was a freshman at the University of South Florida.

"He told me a few days ago, he goes 'Dad, if I ever died on this motorcycle, just know I was doing what I loved to do," said Corban's father Dale Stoltzfoos.

The crash was discovered at approximately 7 a.m. Friday by a passing bicyclist who found Stoltzfoos and the motorcycle next to the wall.  A homeowner directly behind the wall stated he may have heard the impact at 12:30 a.m. but didn't see anything.

Stoltzfoos was the oldest of eight children.

"You really don't think this will ever happen to you," said sister Savannah Stoltzfoos. "You turn on the news and it's 'someone this someone that.' To wake up and know its your brother, it's hard."

His family says he was an avid churchgoer and wanted to start his own business after graduating from college.

"No matter what he did he always had God in first place," said Savannah Stoltzfoos. "Even in the church he was a drummer, always out there enthusiastic and happy and caring for everybody."

"Knowing who he was and the life he lived, I know where he is without a doubt."
