A woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash in St. Petersburg on Friday afternoon.

According to police, the crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. 19 and 34th Street North.

Police said Crystal Dawn Gerardi, 27, was in the front passenger seat of a red Chrysler Lebaron that was heading north on 34th Street N at a high rate of speed.

At the same time, a 1999 Ford Explorer and a 2001 Honda Accord were both heading south on 34th Street N.

The driver of the Lebaron, Scott Larason, 59, attempted to make a lane change, but police said that he lost control of the car due to his excessive speed.

The Lebaron drove over the raised median and into the southbound lanes, where it hit the Ford Explorer head-on. The Lebaron then spun into the path of the Honda Accord, which hit the passenger side door of the Lebaron.

Gerardi was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where she was pronounced dead.

Larason, the passenger of the Ford Explorer and the driver of the Honda Accord were all taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with injuries described as not life-threatening.

Police said Larason's driver's license was suspended at the time of the crash and that he was driving an unregistered vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing. Additional charges may be pending.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
