Several Hernando County churches are getting ready to help feed struggling families on Thanksgiving Day.

Those churches are reaching out to the public for help so they can have enough food to distribute.

According to our partners at the Tampa Bay Times, the churches need food and money to put together enough baskets for families.  Just one ministry in the county plans to provide food baskets to more than 300 families.

If you want to help, donations of food and cash can be taken to the following churches:

  • Northcliffe Baptist Church at 10515 Northcliffe Blvd. in Spring Hill between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays
  • First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill at 9344 Spring Hill Drive between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays. Call 352-683-2600.
  • Christian Church in the Wildwood, 10051 Country Road, north of Weeki Wachee

In addition, the Salvation Army needs donations by Nov. 24. They are located at 15464 Cortez Blvd., west of Brooksville. Make donations between 9 a.m and 4:30 p.m.  Call 352-796-1186 ext. 205.
