Investigators are learning more about a raw sewage spill in Lakeland this summer.

According to our partners at the Ledger, the sewage spill happened July at the Sunset Lake condos. An internal investigation found electricity in the city's sewage pumping station failed and caused the pumps to shut down.

Two people were blamed for the spill: a city wastewater treatment operator and his boss.

The city of Lakeland will pay the condo owners for lost rent.
