Sewing and quilting are a real joy for Everyday Hero Martha Heft. Over the past four years, she has donated more than 450 quilts to several organizations.

“Well, they go to the mothers who are in need and the small children, new babies, and up to 3 or 4 years of age,” Heft said.

Most days you’ll find the 96-year-old her at her sewing machine working on more quilts. Each one takes about two to three days to finish.

Martha is in remarkably good health for her age and shared a memory of when she was a 13-year-old farm girl in Ohio, as she spoke to God.

“‘If you can grace me to be 40 years old, what will there be for me and our nation?’” she said. “And here, my goodness, he has granted me to be 96, and I’m active and doing things and I love doing it.”
