If you're looking for a way to get into the holiday spirit, this could be the answer. How about some outdoor ice skating in downtown Tampa?

Jenna Brown, 10, didn't miss this opportunity for some holiday fun.

"You usually don't get to ice skate, but whenever you come here you have a chance," she said.

On Friday afternoon, both young and old laced up their skates and hit the ice. Tampa's outdoor ice skating rink is now open for business and Jenna did her best to stay up.

"Because I don't like falling," she said. "It hurts."

Some familiar faces showed up for the opening celebration at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn even got out on the ice.

This was Erika Grant's first time on skates and she quickly learned the trick to not falling down.

"That is what the wall is for," she said.

This is the fifth year the outdoor rink has been set up. Tickets are $10 including skate rentals.

The outdoor rink will be open daily until Jan. 4.
