Authorities are still searching for an escaped Manatee County inmate that walked off a work facility Sunday.
Officials are also investigating if the inmate was involved in a carjacking in Sun City. Police said Meren Thompson, 43, walked away from the Manatee Correctional Complex north of Palmetto on Sunday afternoon.
Thompson is 5 feet 10 inches, 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He may be driving the stolen 1997 Ford F150 pickup truck, blue in color, with a Vermont tag.
Thompson was serving time for contempt of court from a domestic battery charge.
He was working at the inmate farm around 2:30 p.m. when he escaped.
