Bear sightings have gone up over the past several years in Citrus County.

According to our partners at the Citrus County Chronicle, that's grabbed the attention of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.

It's planning a series of workshops in the area to talk about the black bear management plan.

The workshops will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Dec. 2 — Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, 4150 S. Suncoast Blvd., Homosassa.
  • Dec. 3 — Pasco County IFAS Extension Office, 36722 State Road 52, Dade City.
  • Dec. 4 — Tommy Usher Community Center, 506 SW 4th Ave., Chiefland.

If you are unable to attend a meeting but still would like to join a Bear Stakeholder Group, contact FWC at BearPlan@MyFWC.com.
