Friends and family gathered to pay their respects Saturday to a Bradenton woman killed in a triple homicide.

Amber Avalos was remembered at the Bridge Church in Bradenton. Avalos, her neighbor Denise Potter, and James "Tripp" Battle, who was a pastor at Bayshore Baptist Church, were killed December 4. Avalos was a Sunday School aide at the church.

On Friday night, Battle was remembered by friends, family and his congregation, many of whom wore sandals because they said Battle always did.

James Ross was a colleague and presided over Battle's funeral.

"He just cared about people that much," he said. "Almost sometimes you're annoyed, this guys just loves you so much, you're like "how can he be that great of a guy?" So really, really remarkable guy and it's obvious he had an impact on a lot of people's lives."

Battle also met regularly with the Bayshore High School football team. The players say he meant a lot to them.

The man suspected in the triple homicide, Avalos' husband Andres "Andy" Avalos, was arrested last Saturday. He is facing murder charges in the three deaths.
