Citrus County Parks and Recreation and Lowe’s held their Adopt-A-Tree event at the Central Ridge Community Center last Friday.

According to the Citrus County Chronicle, the trees were decorated by representatives of local businesses, organizations and individuals, and then donated to needy families in the county.

Citrus County residents, organizations and businesses are able to purchase a tree for $20, which will be on display for three days and then delivered to families in need around the community,” according to the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners website.

Trees at the event were numbered, and those doing the embellishing were notified which tree they were to decorate.

Ornaments with information about needy families with children were also given to local businesses, in order to provide toys for families to go along with the trees.

Lowe’s will be delivering all the Christmas trees.

Parks and Recreation works with local organizations such as the Family Resource Center, We Care Food Pantry and Citrus United Basket to determine which families the trees go to, the Chronicle said.
