Nearly two dozen children with physical disabilities who have benefited from Wheelchairs 4 Kids were treated to the third annual Wheely Winter Christmas party at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium on Friday night.

"This is a private party," said Madeline Robinson, executive director for Wheelchairs 4 Kids. "It’s very exclusive."

Robinson said the children can relate to Winter, the dolphin that swims with a prosthetic tail.

"They see Winter with having a disability, but Winter does great," she said. "It’s an inspiration for them."

Winter's tail is made by Hanger Prosthetics, the same company that makes the braces that many of the children use. Hanger Prosthetics was one of the sponsors of the event, along with Bay News 9's parent company, Bright House Networks.

Parents said the Wheely Winter Christmas party brings their children a lot of joy.

"Look at her smile. How can you not resist that?" said Amber Bridges. "It’s amazing. She just loves it."

Wheelchairs 4 Kids is a non-profit organization that's dedicated to helping Bay Area children with physical disabilities.

"We provide wheelchairs," Robinson said. "Home modifications and vehicle modifications."
