Supa D Tropical Bar and Grill closed its Tampa location on Saturday, but a local congregation that holds Sunday service in the building isn't ready to go.

Residents say they aren't surprised the restaurant and nightclub is taking business elsewhere, after all the recent shootings that have occurred there.

"With what's been going on, I agree with it," said one neighbor.

One shooting in the summer claimed the life of the club's security officer, who was caught in the middle of a fight that happened outside the club. Then just recently, five more people were injured during a shooting inside the club.

However, the small but growing congregation known as Break Through Ministries still has hope for the neighborhood. Members have been leasing the space at Supa D for Sunday service for about a year now.

"This neighborhood needs a lot of help," said Break Through Ministries Pastor, Victor Rodriguez.

To start out, they're offering prayers and food for Christmas to those in need. Neighbors know all too well the brown bags of food handed out will make all the difference.

"My neighbors across the street, they come to my house begging," said one neighbor.

Despite not knowing where the congregation will have their next Sunday service, they know that they want their service in the neighborhood.

"If we could be the light in the darkness, that's the whole point," said Pastor Rodriguez. "This area could get pretty dark at times.”
