A Hernando County school principal has filed a lawsuit against the district's superintendent.

According to partner newspaper the Tampa Bay Times, Tim Urban filed the lawsuit against superintendent Lori Romano, accusing her and the district of invasion of privacy and libel.

Urban said a report on how he handled complaints of bullying last year when he was the principal at Eastside Elementary School was released without his rebuttal and damaged his reputation.

The report indicated that while Urban did investigate the teacher-on-teacher bullying complaints in question and found that the complaints had merit, he did nothing. No teachers were disciplined.

In January, the superintendent gave Urban a disciplinary letter, reprimanding him for a lack of "follow through" for failing to properly report three cases of teacher-on-teacher harassment at Eastside.

Now the principal at the district's alternative school, Endeavor Academy, Urban is seeking damages of $15,000.

Urban was replaced as principal at Eastside after the school received a failing grade from the state.

Urban filed the lawsuit in late March.

Romano has not commented on the pending suit.
