Two women were arrested Tuesday after St. Petersburg police said they pulled another driver out of her car and beat her in a road rage incident.

According to police, Amber Lynn Beckwith, 26, and Ariel Young, 22, were driving on 34th Street S at 6 p.m. when they encountered Rose Lucarell, 61.

At one point, Lucarell honked her horn at the women to prevent a crash, and the women responded by pulling alongside her, yelling at her and giving her obscene gestures, police said.  Lucarell asked them to stop, and Young threw a water bottle at her.

Police said Beckwith, who was driving, hit the front of Lucarell's car with her own.  Lucarell stopped in the middle of the street, and Beckwith rammed her car three times, police said.

Beckwith and Young got out of the car, opened Lucarell's car door and hit her in the head, police said. The suspects pulled Lucarell out of the car and continued to beat her until they threw her on the ground, police said.

Witnesses found Lucarell on the ground. She was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital for treatment.

Beckwith and Young were arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail. Beckwith is facing charges of burglary with battery and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. Young is facing charges of burglary with battery.
