There were three fatal crashes overnight and early Wednesday on Bay area roadways.
Two of the crashes left pedestrians dead.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 66-year-old pedestrian from Rhode Island was killed while walking along Interstate 75.
Troopers said the man was walking southbound on I-75 just after 11:30 p.m. when he was struck by a car in the outside lane.
The man, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene.
Also, a driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 275 near Sligh Avenue.
Troopers said James Peterson lost control of his Buick sedan just before 2 a.m. while traveling in the northbound lanes of I-275. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a barrier.
Peterson, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was closed to traffic for about three hours.
An investigation is ongoing, including determining if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
And in Pinellas Park Wednesday morning, a man was killed on 49th Street North.
According to troopers, the crash happened just before 7 a.m. near Daniels Drive, just south of Ulmerton Road.
No details of the crash have been released yet.
