Dunedin Elementary School is facing some tough issues over the school's grades in recent years.

When Kathleen Brickley became principal at Dunedin Elementary in 2005, the school had an A. Last year, the state gave the school an F.  The school's enrollment of low-income students has increased, as has the number of Hispanic students who needed help with English.

According to our partners at the Tampa Bay Times, Brickley set goals and sought help from the city. She helped to get more volunteers and even brainstormed with teachers on how they can do better.

The school just learned it received a C for this year, but Brickley's efforts may not be enough.

Superintendent Mike Grego told nine schools they would be turned around, which means teaching staff would be reconfigured, principals shuffled and two demoted.

Brickley is one of those two. She will take a pay cut and be reassigned as the assistant principal at Brooker Creek Elementary.

Some critics say the district's move is too harsh and too soon.
