While some students are lounging on the couch for the summer there are a select few who are on Hillsborough Community College campuses for “Kids College.”

“This gives them the opportunity to keep the mind stimulated and keep going,” said HCC Youth Coordinator Breanna Adams.

Kids College gives students ages 7-16 the chance to test the waters to see what future careers could work for them.

Each week is a different course and brand new challenges. But the kids enrolled aren’t backing down from the challenges; they’re ready to take on the next level of their education.

“I like doing this so I might try it,” said MacKenzie McLendon, who tried out the interior decorating course.

“You can feel proud that I create [something] and it’s actually working,” said Sammy McNair, who tried out the computer technology course.

Kids College wraps up on participating HCC campuses on August 15th.
