An Orlando man, who was just released from prison in June, was arrested for attempting to burglarize a business in Winter Haven, according to police.

Akeem Lovett, was taken into custody and charged with armed burglary, burglary, grand theft (more than $20,000) and resisting without violence.

All of the property was located inside of a bag that the suspects dropped when police arrived.

Winter Haven Police responded to an alarm call at Midas Jewelry located at 1415 3rd St. around 3 a.m. indicating there was movement inside of the business.

When officers arrived, they saw a black man with long dreads on the roof of the business. The man jumped from the roof and officers began pursuing the suspect. Officers chased the man, but lost track of him.

At the same time, additional officers and deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office started searching the area around the business in an attempt to locate any suspects involved in the burglary.

A K-9 officer located a track from Midas Jewelry towards the business of Haven Pallet on 347 Ave. O, and located a broken window at the business. Blood was found under the window.

Officer Elliott determined the window was too small for a person to fit and Ares continued to track the property.

Lovett was found in a pole barn on the same property in a stack of pallets inside of the structure. He was taken into custody.

Lovett, who also had a fresh bleeding injury to his hand, was wearing a dark baseball-style cap, which matched one of the two suspects seen in the business surveillance video.

At this time, the second suspect seen on the roof (with long dreads) at the burglary location has not been located.

Police continue to search for the second suspect and ask that anyone with information on this case to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a CASH reward.
