The medical marijuana debate continued in Tallahassee on Wednesday.

Supporters say medical marijuana could help millions of Floridians with painful chronic illnesses, but you might not have to be a patient to benefit from it.

State economists say medical marijuana could bring in millions in tax revenue -- more than $300 million to be exact.

That's money lawmakers would be able to use for tax cuts.

"Some of those fiscally-conservative Republicans are recognizing, I mean, this has got to be taxed, obviously, it's got to be regulated conservatively, but even with that, the numbers are very robust," said Jeff Sharkey with the Medical Marijuana Business Association of Florida.

Medical marijuana opponents say the profit shouldn't outweigh the costs.

They say legalizing medical pot could bring on higher crime rates, and that more people could abuse the drug.
