Firefighters responded to a fire at an east Tampa home early Friday.

According to Tampa Fire Rescue, a home at 1309 E. Northbay Street caught on fire just after 6 a.m.

The structure was about 85 percent engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived.

Fire officials said five people inside the home, including two children (grandparents, their adult son and his two children), made it out safely.

Officials said the fire does not appear suspicious, but there is no cause right now.

There is no word if the home had any smoke detectors.

The fire is under investigation.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross is assisting the family.
