A woman who was sleeping in a "fifth-wheel" travel trailer escaped an overnight fire, but her small dog was not as fortunate.
The trailer was parked inside a pole barn at 13020 Lincoln Road in Riverview. Firefighters responded there at 1:50 a.m. and found two large barns and a shed fully engulfed in flames, according to Hillsborough Fire Rescue.
The woman, who was not identified, had gotten out safely before crews arrived. But her dog perished in the blaze.
Authorities said the barns, trailer and a boat were a total loss. Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.
The Red Cross is helping the woman with food, shelter and clothing.
