Registered voters who are voting in the Aug. 26 primary election by mail will get their ballots soon, if they don't have them already.

The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office is mailing out 140,000 ballots, or about double the number that was requested for the August primary two years ago.

Voters have until 5 p.m. Aug. 20 to request a mail ballot. Voters can also visit any of the county's four Supervisor of Elections offices and have a mail ballot printed for them.

In Hillsborough County, mail ballots come with a postage-paid return envelope. Completed ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections office by 7 p.m. on election day.

The ballots can also be returned in person to any of the Supervisor of Elections offices or Early Vote sites. They cannot be returned at polling places on Election Day.

Fifteen Early Vote sites will be open in Hillsborough County Aug. 14 - 24 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.  New legislation states that Vote By Mail voting and ballot pick up on Election Day is only permitted in case of emergency.
