Bob Robertson is running as a Republican for the District 2 seat on the Pasco County Commission.

1. Why are you running for this office?

I have a God given passion for the people of Pasco County and for what we can become.

My background is diverse – I have been self-employed for 25 years, I have served as the Chairman on a wide range of community boards – Crisis Pregnancy Center, Junior Achievement, and Chamber of Commerce.

I was appointed by all of the current commissioners to serve on the Pasco County RESTORE act committee.

I was selected for the county’s Citizen Academy – which took me to every corner of our county to meet and learn from our premier county staff.

I’ve taught Junior Achievement in Holiday, served the homeless in Zephyrhills, and I mentor as a participant in the Big Brothers / Big Sisters program for a 14 year old boy in Dade City.

I attend virtually all of the County Commission meetings in Dade City and New Port Richey. I have shown my passion for Pasco County by serving across Pasco County.

2. Why do you think you are the best qualified candidate for the office?

When a new employee is hired (which essentially is what a campaign is), I believe that "qualifications" is just where you start to determine who's the most qualified candidate for any job. What the candidate has been doing with those qualifications and where it's being done is just as important.

The experiences that I've had - especially the RESTORE act committee and the Citizens Academy, along with the fact that I attend most county meetings has prepared me like no other.

I have a strong relationship with the with current Commissioners, the County Administrator, and many senior staff members. I believe that I'm the candidate that's prepared to "hit the ground running."

3. If you are elected, what will be your top priorities?

  1. I will meet with every department head and then a variety of county employees at every level of government and ask two questions. First, what tools do you need, that you don't have, to provide premier service? Second, what tools do you have that you don't need? I am certain that this alone will give me four years of goal and objectives.
  2. I will work to expand volunteer opportunities wherever possible.  Our Elderly Nutrition and Animal Services programs survive on extensive volunteer hours.  I believe that this concept can be expanded to other areas of service to our citizens.
  3. I have a vision to significantly streamline our Paving Assessment Program and to get the county out of the financing role.
