Gov. Rick Scott has agreed to participate in three debates this fall, and likely Democratic challenger Charlie Crist is taking him to task for not doing more.

Scott's campaign announced Tuesday the Republican governor would appear in October debates hosted by Telemundo, CNN and Leadership Florida.

"I look forward to a great exchange of ideas with either Charlie Crist or Nan Rich, whoever emerges from the primary in late August," Scott said in a statement.

Crist said he wants at least one debate to be held in a town hall forum that features questions from voters. The Crist campaign said it has accepted invitations to seven debates.

"Rick Scott limiting debates to three is a disservice to voters, but not surprising considering his history of refusing to answer questions to avoid going to jail," Crist said.

Crist must defeat Nan Rich in the Aug. 26 primary to become the Democratic nominee. Despite blasting Scott, he has refused to debate Rich before the primary.
