Wednesday is always the busiest day of the week for Pastor Larry Duncan. It’s the day the pastor and his wife, Minnie, deliver food, drinks, toiletries, clothing and even toys to the homeless.

“My wife and I started this ministry four years ago, and we started by feeding the homeless because due to my addiction, I became homeless,” Duncan said.

In his mid 20’s, Duncan became addicted to crack cocaine. Over the years he lost his job, his home and most everything else.

He moved to Florida to live with his older sister Kay. His life finally turned around when she kicked him out:

“He was staying downstairs in my extra bedroom, and I found some things I wasn’t happy with , and I said, ‘You gotta go’,” Kay said.

That tough love four years ago hit home. Duncan left behind his days of blaming others and started his days as a man of faith.

“I realized that when I was pointing my finger at you, three fingers were pointing back at me and one finger was pointing at the answer,” Duncan said.

One of the best parts of his recovery was finding and marrying Minnie. Together, they began the 2nd Chance Ministry.

The ministry exists on donations and the couple spends several thousand dollars a year of their own limited income funds to help those in need. Duncan’s philosophy is a simple one: we all deserve a second chance.
