A normal day on the road turned scary for a woman in Tampa. Thankfully, an Everyday Hero was standing by.

Nicole Clark was with her brother and friend traveling down Fletcher Avenue near I-275 when they spotted a woman who appeared to be collapsing. Nicole, who is just 15 years old and studying to be a nurse, knew she had to do something. She got out of the car and ran to the woman’s side.

“She started convulsing and then fell backwards on her back and started seizing, and I just knew I had to go help,” Nicole said.

Nicole rolled the woman on her side and checked her vital signs while someone called 911.

Family friend Jordan Hasbrook was with Nicole that day and was pretty amazed by it all.

“I’ve never seen a 15-year-old - any teenager, really - jump into action like that and wanting to help so much,” Jordan said. “She knew what to do more than any other adult that was there.”

Nicole’s brother, Zach, agreed.

“It was effortless for her,” Zach said. “Absolutely effortless. She just kind of hopped right out there and did her thing.”

Emergency crews arrived and took the woman to the hospital. Nicole never learned her name. The teenager said she was just trying to help.

“I don’t know if I’d be a hero,” Nicole said. “Just an everyday person doing the right thing.”
